Co. D, 2nd Battalion, Ga. Volunteer Infantry

 We are proud members of the Georgia Volunteer Battalion.

The 2nd Battalion, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Company "D", "Spalding Grays", reenacting unit, was formed in January 2006. We came together as a unit, to help to move this hobby forward to the next level. We can, and will achieve this by including and teaching the youth of today, so that our ancestors will always have someone to honor their memories in the future. We will also strive to keep history alive through memorial services, parades, living histories, and battle reenactments of the War Between the States. We will try to portray as accurately as possible the common, everyday soldier of the 1860`s. Our federal counterpart will be the 99th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Co. H.. The 99th OVI, served a long and hard campaign, just as all units did, in that day and time. We chose to honor them by portraying them in this hobby so that no one will forget their memory.
